The Francis Hotel

Reservation Link - Group Code JuliannaCisco2026

747 Congress St, Portland, ME 04102
If you want to explore all that Portland has to offer, we would highly recommend the The Francis! This beautiful, locally owned boutique hotel in the heart of the West End will be our home base in Portland, where we'll meet to take the shuttle to the venue and return for the after party (and yes, there are plenty of rooms set away from the festivities if you’re ready to turn in early!!).
In these unprecedented times, we've been thinking a lot about where we put our dollars and the types of vendors we choose to support. The Francis stood out as one of the only hotels in Portland that explicitly practices solidarity and mutual aid within the community, and it felt like the perfect place to safely gather and celebrate with all of our favorite people.

We've reserved a full buy-out from Thursday, August 20 - Monday, August 24 (3 night minimum, with the option to have those three nights be either Thursday - Sunday or Friday - Monday).
While rooms here may feel a bit pricier, rates are in line with standard Portland pricing during peak summer season. The hotel is also dog-friendly, so your four-legged plus ones are welcome!
Please note that on the booking website, it will say it is sold out- this is because we have reserved all the rooms! If you add the JuliannaCisco2026 to the Group Code section, you will be able to book. If you are still having trouble, please call the hotel front desk and let them know that you are booking as part of our room block, and they will be able to assist you.

We hope you're able to explore Portland, eat well, wander the waterfront, and make a fun summer weekend out of it!

Residence Inn, Scarborough

800 Roundwood Drive, Scarborough, ME 04074
We've also blocked rooms at the Residence Inn in Scarborough as another option, if you'd like to be closer to the venue!

Travel

Flights

We would recommend flying into Portland International Jetport (PWM). If you're headed to Portland, it's only a 10-15 minute drive or 25 minute bus ride on the Metro Route 7 Falmouth. There are also taxis and ride-sharing apps readily available.

Driving

Ground Transportation

If you're staying in Portland, you shouldn't need a car to get around, as we will be providing a shuttle to and from the venue. However, if you're staying in Scarborough or anywhere outside of Downtown Portland, or you'd like to explore other beautiful pockets of southern Maine, we would highly recommend driving, as Uber/Lyft access can be spotty.
If you'll be renting a car, there are plenty of options available at the airport.

Shuttle

Whether you're not a big driver or just want to be able to let loose at the reception, we are happy to provide a shuttle to and from the venue for our guests. Please just let us know in your RSVP so we can ensure there is enough space.
Detailed instructions on where and when pickup will be coming soon. Stay tuned!

Registry

Having you attend our wedding is the greatest gift of all! We are sincerely grateful for the time and travel it takes to celebrate with us.
While gifts are by no means expected, those who wish to mark the occasion may find a small, thoughtfully curated registry. In addition to a honeymoon fund and a selection of household items, we have included the option to make a charitable contribution to organizations that are close to our hearts.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the dress code?

Garden Party Formal attire is requested for our ceremony and reception. Midi or long dresses, tie-optional suits, or dressy jumpsuits are all welcome. Feel free to have fun with color, pattern, and silhouette, and fabric, while keeping in mind comfort for an outdoor celebration. We’d love to see a little whimsy or even a touch of surrealism! Below you will find a Pinterest link with inspiration, if it's helpful.

Can I bring a plus-one?

Due to space limitations, we’re only able to accommodate the guests named on your invitation, with no replacements and no exceptions (please don't ask "what about so and so", because I will feel bad and am incapable of saying "no" but we really are at capacity!)
Thank you for understanding!

Is there parking available at the venue?

Yes, plenty! Access to ubers/lyfts is spotty by the venue, so we would highly recommend either driving or taking the shuttle.

Can I take pictures during the ceremony?

We ask that you refrain from taking photos during the ceremony so that we and all the guests can enjoy the moment.

Will there be an open bar?

Yes! Wine, beer, spirits, and non-alcoholic options will be available.

Our Story

Why Maine?

Since Julianna was a little girl, she wanted to be just like her Auntie Meryl. Wherever Meryl went, Julianna followed- from the East Village, to Brooklyn, to Maine! Meryl moved to Portland with her husband, Sergio, and newborn baby boy in 2016, and the first time Julianna visited, she fell in love with beautiful New England summers.
When Cisco entered the picture in 2022, Julianna was adamant that Meryl needed to approve. They first traveled to Maine as a couple in June 2022;  Julianna flew, and Cisco rode his motorcycle the whole 326 miles (to the delight of a 6 year old Ben and 3 year old Mia), and thus began a beloved summer tradition.
Cisco fit right in with the Friedman-Hernandez family, even earning the nickname "Silly Cisco" from the Hernandez kids, and Julianna knew he was in it for the long haul. Every summer since, they have escaped the city and made the trip up to their home away from home, getting Toots Ice Cream, playing outside with the kids, and reminding Meryl and Sergio of the good old days in New York.
We are so grateful to Meryl and Sergio for opening their home to us and being such a huge part of so many beautiful memories in Maine. Our hope is that you can experience the serenity and beauty of a slow-paced Maine summer, and share in our happiest memory yet!
